This blue chair had clearly been collecting dust for decades when I came across it in the Awl Building at Norwich State Hospital in 2006.  Awl was the female forensic & violent ward of the asylum; women deemed “not guilty by reason of insanity”, and those that were too unruly to be on the more open wards, were held in single rooms here.  Sadly, the building was unceremoniously demolished a few years back.
